Wendell Moore could be worth going back to the Duke well

It has been a give-and-take relationship between Duke players and the Atlanta Hawks. Some might remember the failed brief Jabari Parker experiment or how things turned out with Cam Reddish and feel it is best to look elsewhere in search of contributors. Others will see the promise of Johnson and think the Hawks would do well to snag another talented Blue Devil.

No matter where you land, Wendell Moore profiles as just the type of player to spark those kinds of discussions. Perhaps in contrast to Agbaji’s athleticism and hustle, Moore isn’t as explosive and has made some bad decisions on both ends.

The junior from Charlotte, North Carolina averaged 13.5 points on 50.8 percent shooting and 41.1 percent from three-point land.

He also snagged 5.2 boards, dished out 4.4 steals, and snagged 1.4 steals.

All of those numbers were career-best marks for a player that The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor has going to the Golden State Warriors; the same organization where Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk came from.

Schlenk is the one who drafted and later pulled the trigger on the Reddish deal (at the player’s behest) and took Johnson in this past NBA Draft. Will his eye lead him back to Cameron, North Carolina for a player who profiles as a smart, crafty role player who can defend multiple positions?

Moore averaged 18.0 points on 47.5 percent shooting and 35.3 percent from deep with 5.0 boards, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 blocks in the ACC Tournament. His scoring has dropped during this NCAA run to 13.5 points per game, but he is shooting 54.8 percent overall and 57.1 percent from downtown.

For what it is worth, O’Connor has the Hawks taking Agbaji in his latest mock.
