Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young is saying all the right things
Just days after he was taken out of context for comments that he made earlier in the season, Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young has come out saying what the fanbase needs to hear. He has come out saying that he is more motivated than ever.
The Hawks were eliminated from the playoffs by a Miami Heat team that was built to stop the superstar, not specifically Young but his type of game. However, if anyone has watched Young over the years, they know that if you give him a challenge, he is going to do his best to meet that challenge and then exceed any expectations.
The full quote actually reads “Year 4 over and more motivated than ever. I’m gonna do what I’ve always done and that’s level up some more! Appreciate the fans that showed this team love throughout this season … Trust we taking this up a notch next year! Just wait.”
The Atlanta Hawks are going to need to be better next season
While this is a reasonably obvious statement, the Atlanta Hawks have a lot of work to do if they want to make it back for another deep playoff run next season. Young is a superstar and there is no question that he will take it up another notch next season but the Hawks are going to have to spread the load through their role players or make some moves to improve the team.
Young needs to set the tone of what is expected on the floor, this is a level that he can go up next season, that, and also to improve his ability to fight over screens on defense. Young is preparing to go back to work as soon as he is able and this will hopefully benefit the team in the long run.
There are several Hawks who are a little banged up and need to have procedures in the offseason. There are also players who need some time away from the hardwood to clear their heads. However, like a true leader Young is taking it upon himself to get better, and given that he just had an All-NBA type season, that is going to be hard.
Just remember though, when Young sets his mind to anything, it usually happens.
