The Atlanta Hawks are looking to retool their roster this year given how they were unable to put together any decent runs on the season. As a result, they only made it to the ninth seed before qualifying for the playoffs in the final seed. The Miami Heat made short work of the Hawks, beating them in five games.

While there were reasons for this poor performance, including the Covid 19 crisis, the injury crisis, and so many other issues. It was so bad that the Hawks almost made the wrong type of history. However, the Hawks have one of the most tradeable rosters in the NBA given how young and talented the players are.

Still, there is a difference between talent and being able to navigate the rigors of an NBA season. Star power is crucial in the NBA and while Trae Young is an undoubted superstar, the Hawks need to pair him with a second star. The Heat series showed how much the Hawks needed this to happen.

The Atlanta Hawks need to try this trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers, despite being the preseason favorite for the title, did not even make the play-in tournament. Anthony Davis, a top-5 player in the league was less than he could be last season. Maybe what he needs is a change of scenery, let’s look at the proposed trade.

To sum this trade up, the Hawks get Davis, the Lakers get John Collins, Franz Wagner, R.J. Hampton, and the Hawks’ 2022 first-round draft pick. The third team in the deal, the Orlando Magic receives Kevin Huerter and Jalen Johnson.
