The Atlanta Hawks should try this trade with the Los Angeles Lakers
Why the Atlanta Hawks say yes to this three-team trade.
The Hawks would get themselves a superstar in Davis which is what they need moving forward. Yes, it will cost two starters to get him as well as a promising young rookie and a future first-rounder but if he can stay healthy, it will be a deal worth making.
Injuries have always been Davis’s issue as he has never been able to play a full season out. In fact, he has only played more than 70 games twice in his ten-year career. Last season he only played 40 games but do not forget, when he hits the court, there a not many better at the game than Davis.
The impact that Davis will have on the defensive end is going to be huge. The combination that he and Clint Capela will have as a starting frontcourt will be irrepressible. The Hawks will lose nothing on defense when Onyeka Okongwu replaces Capela on the court. On top of that, despite not enjoying playing center much, Davis can also play this role well.
While the Lakers will not want to trade Davis, they cannot afford to have another season like the last one. They only have one season left on James’ contract and they need to make the most of this time, given that he is looking to play with his son and there is no guarantee that it will be the Lakers who draft him.
