The Atlanta Hawks are more than likely to have a very busy offseason. There are very few players who will be safe from trade speculation with the Hawks looking to add a second star. There have been rumors of a possible trade for Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert or even their current franchise player Donovan Mitchell.

While there have been plenty of other rumors around the second star, this roster will be totally reshaped if one of these players talked about comes into town. This means that the Hawks are going to need to look at players who are able to perform roles.

Chris Boucher is a type of player that the Hawks should look to pursue. He is athletic, long, spaces the floor, and is able to back down his smaller opponent in a mis match. While this very much sounds like John Collins, the Hawks will probably need to include their longest-tenured player in any trade for a big name.

Why the Atlanta Hawks would need to trade John Collins.

In any trade in the NBA you must give something to get something. An aggressive John Collins is one of the most irrepresible forces in the league. He showed us that he could average 20 points and 10 rebounds in this league, those players are simply gold in this league meaning that he is almost a guaranteed piece of any trade.

This means that the Hawks are going to look to replace this production at a lower cost than $25 million per season. To put it bluntly, they are going to need to do this in order to sign enough players, despite ownership saying that the tax does not scare them.

Boucher has been part of the successful Raptors era, we can forget the season where they did not play home games in Toronto, that was an abhorration. His gamestyle would suit the Hawks, especially playing alongside the defensive talents of Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu.

So, do the Hawks pursue Chris Boucher? Only if they make a trade which sends John Collins away.
