The Atlanta Hawks hitched their wagon to Trae Young when they made the draft-night trade that sent Luka Doncic’s draft rights to the Dallas Mavericks for Young’s. Much has been made of this trade over the past four years, with the talk raising its head over the postseason with all the Luka love.
Unfortunately for the two players, Young and Doncic are going to be forever linked, maybe for their entire careers. For Young and the Hawks, it would be so beneficial to them if they win a championship, this would totally vindicate their decision.
The latest comparison that the NBA media was by Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report. He predicted the top-ten stars over the next five years and he has placed Young in the sixth slot and Doncic in the second spot. While it is frustrating for Young to be behind Doncic, that is not a bad level of respect.

Over the next five years, Hughes expects a number of players to age out of the top ten as it stands. These are LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Jimmy Butler. This is a veritable list of who’s who of the last ten years of the NBA and a decent list of Hall of Fame nominees.
However, the players on the list are a little surprising, with Anthony Edwards coming in at No. 10. However, Joel Embiid, who believes that he should have been MVP from last season came in at No. 9, which is three slots below Young.
Young is also seen to be a greater star than Ja Morant and Bam Adebayo. The players above Young on the list are Devin Booker, Nikola Jokic, Jayson Tatum, Doncic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. This is also a list of potential Hall of Fame nominees.

The fact that Young is on this list means that the finally some of the NBA media are seeing what Hawks fans have seen since the first day he walked into camp in his rookie season. Now that he has made his first All-NBA team, it is most probable that he will not be out of these teams for the next five years.
