The Atlanta Hawks franchise has had three players named to Team USA. No, it is not Trae Young who is often disrespected when it comes to representative basketball. It is actually three members of the College Park Skyhawks that have been named.

These players are Will Davis II, DaQuan Jeffries, and Langston Galloway per USA Basketball. Given how the Skyhawks finished last season it is not a surprise to see so many names in the mix for the two games in July. These are against Puerto Rico and Cuba, both as away games.

Davis is a 6’8″ combination power forward/center who was picked up by the Skyhawks from the available player pool on the 24th of February. He has not suited up for the Skyhawks in a G League game yet but we will take the representative honors when we can get them.

The Atlanta Hawks will be watching these qualifiers with interest.

Jeffries, who was big for the Skyhawks at the start of the season, missed a large portion of the season under an injury cloud. Still, his level of play when he could on the court. In his seven games, Jeffries averaged 16.4 points,, 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.6 steals in 31.0 minutes per game.

However, the player that the Hawks will most likely be watching during the qualification games is former NBA journeyman Galloway. The 6’2″ guard came to the Skyhawks midway through the season and played very well for the franchise. There was a chance that he could have been called up to the varsity squad given how bad their injury and illness crises’ were throughout the season.

The Hawks are looking to restructure their squad next season and adding an experienced NBA player to the mix at a veterans minimum would be beneficial. The Hawks’ current salary cap restrictions do not allow them to make too many quality signings.

If any of the proposed trades go through, they might have some more space to make some more solid moves. Galloway may be one of the key players in this.
