Atlanta Hawks draftee has much better second game in Summer League
It appears that Atlanta Hawks draftee Tyrese Martin had some nerves in the first game of Summer League. He did not impress during the Hawks’ first Summer League game. He shot the ball extremely poorly but he did work hard on the defense and filled the box score reasonably nicely.
However, in his second game, Martin showed a better shot selection and as a result, had a better shooting game. He appeared to be sent out with a particular focus this game, and that was to crash the offensive boards. Two of his three rebounds were on the offensive end.
Martin took fewer shots from beyond the arc, which meant that he was able to hit 44.4 percent from the field which was much better than last game. He also managed to hit his only free throw, which was, again, better than the first Summer League game.
The Atlanta Hawks are awaiting a key player to help Tyrese Martin
The Hawks are desperate for AJ Griffin to make his Summer League debut. The first-round draft pick from this draft has not yet played due to a foot injury. Added to this Sharife Cooper is struggling with his thumb injury and Jalen Johnson was not even part of the squad due to a non-surgical procedure at the start of the offseason.
The Hawks back up today against the Miami Heat in their third game. Hopefully, they can debut Griffin in this game which will help the entire team. With the defense having to focus more on the higher draft, which means that Martin will have a whole lot more space on the floor.
Despite the Hawks bringing a decent squad to Summer League, there is a good chance that the Hawks will go home without a win. However, they are looking at what each player brings to the floor. Players like Justin Tillman and Chaundee Brown are playing for a roster spot and hopefully, they can get it done.
