Goals for Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins for the 2022 season: No.1) Improve his usage.

One of the biggest criticisms of Collins last season was that he got lost on the offensive end of the floor. He got paid the bag last offseason and as a result, had to produce. Unfortunately for the Hawks, despite settling into his role, Collins had the lowest usage rate since his rookie season.

Given that he was the highest-paid player for the Hawks last season, Collins needed to produce more. He did have the injury issues that started around the All-Star break, and there were times when it was questionable if he should even play in back-to-backs such were his injury issues.

Still, Collins has one of the best true-shooting percentages in Hawks history. This means that when he takes a shot, he usually knows that he can make it. However, he needs to start shooting more often and getting the ball more in the pick and roll or pick and pop situation.

While Collins is not a noted playmaker, he is capable of making plays for others close to the rim. with his ability to finish he can also create confusion among the defenders. He needs to make the extra pass close to the hoop if he can’t score, adding a further string to his bow.
