No, it is unlikely that the Atlanta Hawks will ever have LeBron James as a playing member of this franchise. However, Dennis Schroder, a former member of the Hawks played with James when they were both members of the Los Angels Lakers, the year after the Lakers won the title.

He became a member of the Lakers thanks to being traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder for Danny Green and Jaden McDaniels. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, the Lakers were unable to come close to their championship form from the season before and there was a portion of the blame given to Schroder.

Schroder passed up a massive contract at the end of his Lakers tenure. He then signed on for a single season with the Boston Celtics, but he was not a part of their push for the championship that they had this season, he was traded to the Houston Rockets with Enes Freedom and Bruno Fernando for Daniel Theis.

Former Atlanta Hawks guard Dennis Schroder is still unsigned in free agency

Despite the Hawks having three roster spots available, they would have no interest in signing Schroder. Not only do they have a number of players who are vying for the spot, but they already have more than $150.0 million committed in salary to this team. There is no doubt that Schroder will be looking for a decent payday.

This is why the super-fast guard floated the idea on Twitter that he and James run it back and see what they could achieve. The problem is that the Lakers already have $165 million in committed salary for next season.

Next. Where is the Atlanta Hawks roster at its weakest?. dark

It will be interesting to see if Schroder has a roster spot in the NBA next season. He is still a talented scorer but is not the strongest defender. If Schroder is not on a roster at the start of the season, he will be signed by a contender towards the end of the season.
