Anyone who follows Trae Young on Twitter knows that the Atlanta Hawks star posts inspirational quotes such as “Another day, another opportunity.” While this can feel a little formulaic, it still suggests that his mindset is always positive.

Still, a positive mindset may not be enough to hang his hat on in the coming season. The Hawks have made some really savvy offseason moves but these moves will only work if Young is prepared to share the ball, keeping all the players on his team involved.

He has been playing in the Crawsover with John Collins and the newly acquired All-Star Dejounte Murray. They have made a statement with the way that they have played in the Pro-Am. However, it is what Young tweeted just yesterday which is the crucial piece to the puzzle for the Hawks.

Now, it is very easy to say things and not back them up. However, it is not Young’s way not to back up his words with actions. Any time that Young has a bad game, he puts it on himself to be better and is able to do what he says he is. So, what did he say on Twitter that he is going to be able to back up this season? Take a look below.

Now, this is telling for the Hawks. This is still Young’s team, he is one of the most dominant point guards in the league. While Murray ran the offense for the San Antonio Spurs during his time there, Young will run the majority of the offense for the Hawks next season.

This means that it is going to be his responsibility to make sure that everyone is getting enough of the ball when he is on the court. He was worked out by coach Nate McMillan over the offseason and this would have been a large part of what they worked on.

If he can keep the rest of the team happy and engaged, there is a really good chance for the Hawks to go deep into the playoffs. If he can’t, then the Murray experiment may be seen as a failure. The ball is in Young’s court so to speak.
