3 goals for Atlanta Hawks big man Onyeka Okongwu No 1) Stay healthy

As mentioned earlier, the big man has struggled to stay healthy during his two-year career. The start to his rookie season was delayed by a foot injury and this had a negative impact on his playing time.

He missed ten games in all with this foot injury which resulted in him not playing in a further eight games. He also missed a further four games thought out the season through niggling injuries. While this does not seem too many games, his rookie season was only 72 games long. This meant that he only played 70 percent of the season.

Then last season he missed the first 28 games with that shoulder surgery and then had another four games on the sidelines with Covid-19 and two games with another injury later in the year. This is not the way to develop consistency and chemistry with your teammates.

Okongwu has put in the work this offseason rather than having to rehabilitate his body. This means that he has a head start on where he has been over the previous two seasons. however, what he needs to be able to do is stay on the court.
