The Atlanta Hawks preseason schedule is set.
The Atlanta Hawks are only going to play three games in this upcoming preseason. The main reason for this is that the franchise is creating history with the first ever games being played in Abu Dhabi against the Milwaukee Bucks.
They play the first of these games on October 6th with the second one being two days later on October 8th. Then the Hawks come back stateside to play their final preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 14th.
The NBA season will then open on October 18th. It is unsure if the Hawks will play on opening night as the schedule is yet to drop. This is slated to happen in the middle of August, within a week or so of the time of writing. This information is going to be crucial for the Hawks as they embark on their next journey towards their fight for a championship.
Have the Atlanta Hawks scheduled enough games with their roster changes of the offseason?
With the addition of Dejounte Murray, Aaron Holiday, Justin Holiday, Frank Kaminsky, and Maurice Harkless, the Hawks are a totally different franchise. This is not to mention the rookies who were drafted this season AJ Griffin and Tyrese Martin as well as sophomore Jalen Johnson.
So, the question is, have the Hawks allowed enough games to develop the chemistry that they need? This was missing from the Hawks campaign last year thanks to players having to miss time after the playoffs for injury cleanups and also the injuries suffered in the lead-up to last NBA season.
This is the other issue of how many games the Hawks need to play is the potential for injury. The Hawks have had a bad run over the past two seasons, it was one of the main reasons that the Hawks struggled so badly last season. Let us hope that the Hawks have the balance right for this preseason.
