The Atlanta Hawks signed big man Frank Kaminsky on a one-year deal worth $2.6 million. His role with the team is going to be an interesting one to define as he is coming back from a season where he played only nine games thanks to injury.

The big man has now spent seven seasons in the league, the first four being with the Charlotte Hornets and the last three with the Phoenix Suns. He has been a solid offensive contributor in that time, averaging 9.4 points per game for his career.

His offensive game has never been Kaminsky’s downfall in the league. He is a 7-footer who has shot the 3-ball at 34.8 percent over his career. There is always going to be a place in the league for that combination. It has been his defensive game that has been Kaminsky’s issue.

There is no way that Kaminsky will start for the Hawks, that is not going to be his role with the team. He is most certainly going to play with the second unit, vying with Jalen Johnson for the role of the backup power forward position, as the rotations are certainly not set in stone.

However, he is going to be playing alongside Onyeka Okongwu in the frontcourt, and the third-year man is used to helping out poor defenders in the second unit. Now, let’s take a look at three goals for Frank the Tank in his first season with the Atlanta Hawks.
