Four major predictions for the 2022/23 Atlanta Hawks
4) The Atlanta Hawks will once again break the State Farm Arena average attendance record.
Perhaps not a controversial statement considering the State Farm Arena era is only about to enter its 5th year. However, the arena actually saw its 5th-highest level of average attendance in 15 years last season.
Surprisingly, this broke the arena’s attendance record since the name change, despite the Hawks being relegated to the play-in tournament for most of the season. This is likely in large part due to the marketability of Hawks’ young superstar Trae Young and the playoff appearance the year prior.
According to Donnell Suggs of the Atlanta Business Chronicle, going into the 2021/22 season, the Hawks had already set a personal record with 10,000 season ticket owners. This is sure to increase with the addition of Young’s now co-star Dejounte Murray.
With all due respect to Collins, Young has lacked a flashy, marketable co-star to play with since joining the Hawks. It has been a long time in general since the Hawks possessed such an enrapturing duo.
With the inevitable exciting play and expectations for a strong playoff season, there is a real chance that State Farm arena posts attendance numbers similar to or surpassing that of the record-setting 2014/15 Hawks.
