2) The Hawks are dealing with some small injuries.

Part of the importance of the open practice is to get players fresh before preseason, and fans immediately took notice of the ones who did not end up participating.

McMillan addressed these grievances with the media and noted that Dejounte Murray and Trent Forrest were unavailable due to the same “flu-like” illness. McMillan also confirmed that rookie AJ Griffin is dealing with a minor “tweaked ankle,” though he is still participating in team workouts. The final injury issue he addressed is the previously injured Bogdan Bogdanovic is still recovering from off-season knee surgery.

Vít Krejčí, who recently arrived from the Oklahoma City Thunder, was present but unavailable.

For new additions Trent Forrest, Dejounte Murray, and AJ Griffin, it will be imperative that they heal in time to play with their new team in the preseason games. They are all expected to travel with the team to Abu Dhabi and be ready to go for the season opener against the Rockets on October 19th.
