It’s no secret that the Atlanta Hawks have underperformed this season, finishing with 41 wins and 41 losses, netting them the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference, and a place in this year’s Play-In tournament. However, according to Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report, as well as some other credible sources, a Trae Young trade might just be possible.

Young had an outstanding individual season, averaging 26.2 points per game, as well as 10.2 assists per game, averaging a double-double and being just the seventh player in NBA history to average at least 25 points and 10 assists per game in a season, per Basketball-Reference. He kept up his stellar play since the 19/20 NBA season and showed fans and league members that he was more than capable of leading a team, with his generational offensive talent, he is a “one-man offensive engine”.

He has averaged 25-plus points per game in his fourth straight season now.

Locker room issues with former coaches Nate McMillan and Lloyd Pierce, the overall lackluster play of the star-studded team throughout the regular season, and underperforming bench play lead the Hawks to this position, almost missing out on the playoffs being .500.

Part of that is out of his control — he will always be a target of opposing defenses given his slight stature and frame.

He has also been more locked in on the defensive side of the ball this season.

Still, this poor play has ultimately led to ownership giving the front management full control with “no limits” for the following offseason, as we could potentially see a blockbuster trade, where the Hawks are looking for an All-Star caliber player in return.

And, while that still seems like a far-off possibility, let’s explore the possible trade packages Bailey has floated for the Hawks’ star point guard.
