Kyrie Irving and the prospect selected with a 2023 first-round pick for Trae Young (sign-and-trade)

Out of all the possible trade packages, this one might just be the most interesting. First off, the Mavericks’ first-round pick this year (that is also currently under investigation for tanking) will need to end up in the top 10 of the Draft Lottery to stay with the team, as it is under top-10 protection. Secondly, which is far less likely, Kyrie Irving needs to express a need to play for a smaller market team.

If those two points could be settled, then a possible Young-Luka Doncic combo in Dallas would be lethal. Reminiscing back to the 2010s Miami Heat teams with iconic players from the same draft teaming up, a title run would surely be in the books.

They are both ball-dominant players and, unfortunately, we can see how that current situation is unfolding in Dallas.

Dallas lost 13 of their last 19 games and failed to make the playoffs.

On the other side, the Hawks would get Kyrie. One of the, if not, the craftiest NBA player ever, who already knows to play off the ball when needed, but would most likely be the primary ball handler. The man is a generational talent, however off-court scandals are a huge scare for any team, as something seems to occur every season regarding his behavior. All in all a very solid trade for both of these teams.
