The Atlanta Hawks didn’t want the season to end like this. Trae Young had a second-straight subpar playoffs, Dejounte Murray almost began his vacation early due to suspension, and the roster around them has not taken the step forward the organization expected. This was a lackluster season from a team that pushed its chips in last summer to trade for Murray.

Changes are coming, as they already have. The front office is new, as is the head coach. It’s possible the Hawks organization makes minor moves around the margins and trusts in new head coach Quin Snyder to make an impact.

More likely is that the organization decides to make a big splash, or that a star player forces their hand. If Trae Young comes out with a trade demand, the team might decide they are better off parting ways rather than playing hardball.
