Another chance to impress looms for Gueye

It may seem like a longshot, but there might be a chance Gueye can get minutes on the team this season. Preseason serves as yet another opportunity for players to prove themselves. Gueye should get a lot of playing time this preseason. After all, Quin Snyder was in attendance during the summer league games and it is hard not to see him walk away impressed by Gueye’s performance.

With that said, there is still a lot of player Gueye would have to beat out to get minutes this season.

The great thing about Gueye is that he is a hybrid that can play Power Forward or Center if needed. The problem is that there are other young players ahead of him. Theoretically, John Collins being traded might open up a stop for him to play, but Jalen Johnson and Saddiq Bey will most certainly pick up those minutes and production.

Perhaps the only way that Gueye sees the floor is through a Clint Capela trade.

Atlanta is more than willing to start Oneyka Okongwu at this point, but if the Hawks don’t get another rotational big man, that could open the door for Gueye to crack the rotation. That being said, it may be smart to let him develop slowly.

Next. Hawks fans should be patient with rookie Kobe Bufkin. dark

One could argue that he’s only going to get better by playing. While that may be true, there’s also a suspicion that he may not even be ready to play. Hawks fans would love to see Gueye get some minutes this season, but it may be too early to put him in the rotation.
