Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young has a routine.

The dynamic point guard shares the same affirmation every day: “Another Day, Another Opportunity”. But, on September 2, he switched it up a bit, still sending out the affirmation but with one very notable twist.

Young, who has made his way back to Atlanta and the Hawks facilities a little earlier than usual this offseason, included a clip of himself and Dejounte Murray working together.

Murray and Young have been sharing messages back and forth on Instagram about the latter’s earlier-than-usual return with Murray declaring this coming season to be a big one with Young’s arrival serving as the signal. Murray has already said he plans to make this the best season of his career so the energy is consistent.

The two already made a bit of history last season, their first playing together.

Murray and Young became the first set of teammates to both average at least 20.0 points and 6.0 assists in a single season since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen of the 90s Chicago Bulls.

But Young, in particular, has spoken quite often about wanting to win more and knowing he needs to do so to change certain narratives about him. Fittingly, the theme for the release of his third signature show was all about legacy.

The Hawks were 35-32 with both Murray and Young in the lineup, and the duo plans on being even better this coming season after that experience. They are also both excited about the prospects of having head coach Quin Snyder for a full season. Snyder led the Hawks to a 10-11 record to close out the regular season but they won four of their final six contests.

Trae Young got daily affirmation from former Hawks guard Jamal Crawford

A 20-year NBA veteran, three-time Sixth Man of the Year, and someone who is also close to Murray, former Hawks guard Jamal Crawford has long been associated with the message. He still tweets the message out to his followers, though not as regularly as Young now does.

“It was either my senior year or my freshman year in college when I seen Jamal Crawford tweet ‘another day, another opportunity’ one time,” Young said on the “From The Point by Trae Young” podcast on June 9. “Every time I saw him post it, it just stuck with me. And I just wanted to use it as my motto.”

Crawford last posted the message on X on August 31, so it’s not gone from his routine either.

“I mean it makes me feel good,” Young said. “So I just live by that, and I try to post every day just so the people following me see that and hopefully see the same thing I do.”

Training camps open at the end of September with the Hawks’ first preseason game slated for October 10 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. If nothing else, Hawks fans can bank on their team’s stars being ready for another day, another opportunity.
