The NBA’s In-Season Tournament continues on Tuesday night with 10 more group play matchups, including the Atlanta Hawks hitting the road to take on the Detroit Pistons.

Atlanta would love to pick up a road win in this matchup, especially since Detroit is struggling on the season (2-9) and won’t have several key players in action on Tuesday.

Early on this season, Atlanta has put together one of the best offenses in the NBA, but will that continue with Trae Young listed as questionable for tonight? I have my best bet and more for this matchup, and there’s a way you can take advantage of that at FanDuel.

Hawks vs. Pistons key players to watch

Atlanta Hawks

Jalen Johnson: With the Hawks trading away John Collins this past offseason, Jalen Johnson has stepped up in a huge way for the team. The young forward is averaging 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 58.9 percent from the field. He could be in line for a major role if Young has to sit.

Detroit Pistons

Cade Cunningham: It’s been an up-and-down season for former No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham shooting the ball (40.9 percent from the field), but he’s still shown why he was such a highly-regarded prospect. The Pistons guard is averaging 22.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game this season.

Hawks vs. Pistons prediction and pick

The Pistons have a loaded injury report, which has made it tough for this young squad to start the season.

Key veterans like Bojan Bogdanovic and Monte Morris won’t play in this game, nor will young center Jalen Duren, who had gotten off to a hot start in the 2023-24 season.

I am a little worried about Atlanta if Young sits (questionable, personal), but Detroit doesn’t have enough proven commodities on offense to truly compete with this Atlanta team.

The Hawks aren’t just sixth in offense this season, they do it by playing at a blistering pace (No. 2 in the NBA). Detroit is coming off a matchup where it gave up 119 points to the 20th-ranked offense – the Chicago Bulls.

Atlanta has struggled against the spread this season (3-6), but I’ll take a shot on the Hawks to win and cover here against an inferior opponent.
