The Atlanta Hawks brought things full circle for Bogdan Bogdanovic. Acquired in free agency in 2020 from the Sacramento Kings, Bogdanovic has been a staple for the Hawks – sometimes as a starter, but mostly off the bench – for the past five seasons.

Now, he heads to the Los Angeles Clippers, bringing him back to the state in which he began his NBA career as a member of the Sacramento Kings.

Like former teammate De’Andre Hunter, Bogdanovic reflected fondly on his Hawks tenure.

What an amazing five years it’s been. The passion and support from you guys, always brought the best version out of me on the floor. I am so grateful for the remarkable experience in the A.

Salute to you Hawks fans!” Bogdanovic posted on X on February 7

“A special thanks to my teammates, trainers (s/o Taka), equipment managers team (s/o Tim), coaching staff, security staff, chefs and the whole Atlanta Hawks organization who played a big part in my growth, both as a player and as a person. Thank you for all the love and support you showed me and my family!”

The Hawks also shared a video tribute to Bogdanovic.

“A fierce competitor who always brought a smile to the court,” the Hawks said in the post on X on February 7. “Thank you, Bogi.”

“#13 Bogi will stay in Atlanta, as I begin this new chapter of my journey,” Bogdanovic said in the post. “Until next time! It’s been real. Bogi Out.”

Bogdan Bogdanovic looking to revive season with Clippers

Bogdanovic, 32, is having a career-worst season. He is averaging lows of 10.0 points and a 30.1% 3P mark this season. He has played 24 games entering action on February 7 and has not played since January 25, though that was due to an agreement with the Hawks.

The Clippers are banking on Bogdanovic returning to form with the change of scenery.

Bogdan is a smart, competitive guard who brings shooting, passing and a high basketball IQ,” Clippers president Lawrence Frank said, per Clutch Points’ Tomar Azarly on February 6. “He has proven, both in the NBA and international play, that he is a terrific connector and a big shot maker.”

Bogdanovic is in Year 2 of a four-year, $68 million contract. He is less than one year removed from lighting up the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

The Clippers need him to get back to something close to that going forward.
