Jake Fischer of the Stein Line reported that the Atlanta Hawks front office has signed former Capital City Go-Go Keshon Gilbert to a two-way contract. Although it’s unlikely Gilbert will make the main Hawks roster right away, he will be a good addition to the developing talent down in College Park.

He arrives in Georgia after playing 37 games for the Go-Go’s in Washington, averaging 15.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. The 6’4 point guard was the second-best scorer (13.4 PPG) on a 24-11 Iowa State team last season, but went undrafted in the stacked 2025 NBA Draft.

His services could be useful in Atlanta, and the Hawks have been known to give opportunities. They recently signed guard/forward Caleb Houstan after he displayed his scoring ability (16.1 PPG) in the NBA G League, and Center N’Faly Dante as well, before the West African native tore his ACL.

Hopefully, things will be different for Gilbert as the chance to carve out a good career in Atlanta. Keshon possesses all the tools to succeed, and we’re seeing undrafted players become real pieces for their respective teams.

Just recently, the Phoenix Suns converted guard Jamaree Bouyea to a standard two-year contract, and the Portland Trail Blazers did the same with Siddy Cissoko on February 20, so there are hidden gems for multiple teams if they look hard enough. For Atlanta, it all depends on how they utilize their new piece moving forward, and Gilbert’s versatility should make it very easy.

Uncovering a diamond in the rough

Adding him to the rotation gives the Skyhawks a guard who can absorb contact at the rim and also create for others. He led the Cyclones in assists last season with 4.1 per game, and his playmaking is exacerbated by his penetrating ability.

Keshon utilizes his strength and speed to break down the defense before passing off to a cutter. If he’s not passing, he’s going into the chest of an opposing defender. He has a litany of acrobatic moves in his arsenal to finish at the rim.

It’s only a matter of time until he’s able to bring the same intensity to College Park, but where there are strengths, there are also weaknesses. The Skyhawks are known to struggle from the field, shooting 45% as a team, and Gilbert won’t help them improve in this category.

He shot 46% from the field after playing 66 games for the Cyclones, so his jumpshot still needs some work. Either way, the boys in College Park need the help. They’re currently 7-20 this season, and injuries have put them at a major disadvantage. Keshon Gilbert’s story will be an interesting one for those who watch it this season, and with nine games left in the 2025-26 G League season, he still has time to make an impact.
