The 2026 Atlanta Hawks look drastically different than they did when Quin Snyder was first hired as head coach.
Nonetheless, he's adapted, and it's been impressive. When he took over for the Hawks in 2023 - shortly after he stepped down from his position with the Utah Jazz - the roster was led by Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, with John Collins and Clint Capela providing a steady frontcourt presence.
Fast forward to now, and none of them remain on the roster. The only players left on the squad from Snyder's first campaign in Atlanta are Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu.
Despite all of the roster movement, the Hawks have improved in every season he's been at the helm. There's no reason to believe he won't keep it going.
Snyder now has his best, most cohesive rotation since taking over
Seriously, the Hawks have gotten better every year.
He only coached 21 games in the season he took over for Nate McMillan, going 10-11. The year after - his first full one in charge - he led the squad to a 36-46 record. Not anywhere near where they wanted to be, but there were glimpses of what exactly they needed in order to succeed.
A 40-42 season followed in the first year after dealing Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Dyson Daniels - a franchise centerpiece.
Their mini-leap took place the year after - their most recent campaign - where a late-season surge unexpectedly propelled them into the playoff picture.
While still ending the season as a first-round exit, there was real promise in their trajectory for the first time in a long time. Besides, taking two games on the eventual-champion New York Knicks should be celebrated, if anything.
Now, heading into his fourth full season as head coach, the expectations are higher than ever.
Atlanta could very well surpass 50 wins this upcoming season
That's the goal, right?
Since their record has improved in every season he's been the coach, a recent 46-36 record points to them finally hitting that 50-mark next time out.
They brought back most of their roster from last season, which was one of the best in the league after the All-Star break. Oh, how quickly they forget...
The additions they made, as well, should have no problem fitting in. Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins and Kingston Flemings look to make an instant impact in the rotation.
There's no reason to believe Quin Snyder and the Atlanta Hawks won't exceed expectations once again.
