It feels like every year, the Hawks and Jaylen Brown are linked. It's a natural connection, as the former Finals MVP is from Marietta, a city just outside of Atlanta. He represents his home wherever he's at. It's no surprise that a potential homecoming is often discussed. While the Hawks haven't been directly mentioned as an offseason suitor just yet, recent rumblings could change that.

Brown seems to be disgruntled in Boston. Nothing's confirmed, but his immediate reaction to being eliminated suggests he's not content with his current situation. He went to Twitch to express his frustration with recent officiating, while simultaneously making it known he was happy with how his individual season went, despite Boston's early exit.

Brown wasn't the only one to turn some heads in the early offseason

Tracy McGrady, on a recent episode of his show with Vince Carter, made some intriguing comments regarding Brown's future in Boston that certainly shouldn't go overlooked.

“I think his frustration lies deeply in the organization that we don’t have the details to," McGrady pointed out. "There’s just been a lot of stuff that I’ve been hearing, just going on with the Boston organization with JB.”

When there's smoke, there's fire. Usually. In a hypothetical scenario where Brown, for whatever reason becomes available in the trade market, the whole league would be put on hold. There would be some hefty offers made, and the Hawks getting involved could quickly become a reality.

There are plenty of pros and cons that would come with acquiring Brown. He's a remarkable two-way player with plenty of postseason experience just now hitting his prime, but he's on one of the league's largest contracts, and is ready to compete for a championship now.

On paper, Atlanta may not be the best fit for him. Sure, he would accelerate their timeline, but is he ready to be the leader and top option on a young, inexperienced team?

The Hawks need to utilize their leverage in any trade discussions

If they trade for Brown, they'll either get much younger or have to sacrifice some of their continuity. They're in a luxury spot, with plenty of premium young assets, but also some adaptable veterans. It'll take a lot to make the salary work in a deal like this, meaning both a veteran and a young player or two would be on their way out.

It may not be worth the risk. It would be wise to stay the course, but the chance to acquire a player of Jaylen Brown's caliber doesn't come by too often.
