4 Hawks who definitely won't be back, 4 who shouldn't return next season

Shouldn’t be back: Trae Young
For his career, the Hawks are 183-224 with Young as their point guard. The three-time All-Star just finished his sixth NBA season. Yes, he led them to the conference finals in 2021, but nothing suggests the 25-year-old can repeat that feat with the Hawks' current roster. He is just entering his prime, but can a team with him as their engine win on the biggest stage?
Young is undersized and will always struggle on the defensive end. They will have to win shootouts and play elite offense to win when the games matter most. Young plays a very ball-centric style, which makes it harder for his teammates to find their rhythm. Can he adapt to have more success? It did not work with Dejounte Murray, but it may with a different co-star.
The Hawks tried with Trae Young, but it is time to move on. They cannot build a championship roster around the 6’1 point guard. Atlanta can still get a massive haul for Ice Trae and would be wise to capitalize. The Hawks should stockpile assets and rebuild under their new management. It is the only way Atlanta becomes a serious title contender.
It is a crucial offseason for the Atlanta Hawks. Changes must be made, and few on the roster are completely safe. Expect moves and maybe even blockbuster ones. Everything should be on the table.
