Sixers an unconventional but intriguing fit for Hawks’ Dejounte Murray

The Philadelphia 76ers offer a lot of similar appeal as the Knicks, mainly in the culture that is associated with both franchises. The Sixers, however, have not been able to capitalize on the tenure of their star Joel Embiid.

With Tyrese Maxey’s emergence, adding Murray to the mix is the kind of risky move that could come out of nowhere to be more than formidable.

All three of Embiid, Maxey, and Murray know how to operate without the ball in their hands.

Maxey and Murray would be a nightmare for defenders forced to determine if they are preparing to blow by them on a drive or stop on a dime for a jumper. That explosiveness would complement Embiid even more than Maxey’s presence already does.

The Sixers have just four players under contract for next season going into the summer. Embiid and Maxey are both in line for new deals and the Sixers would still need to flesh out their roster.

Embiid’s health is a concern for the Sixers and any players considering them this summer.

Their lack of proven success is also worrisome, with their most notable endeavor since the Allen Iverson era being “The Process,” which featured several years of losing by design. Turning that around has proven to be a daunting task.

The Sixers slipped into the Play-In Tournament last season. But they have been to the playoffs for six years running.

However, their last Conference Finals appearance was in 2000-01.
