The Atlanta Hawks will be down All-Star guard Trae Young on Monday night as he’s in the league’s concussion protocol.

That opens up some interesting prop betting opportunities for the team’s game against the Sacramento Kings, who are in a bit of a skid, losing four straight games.

The Kings are heavily favored at home in this game, but with the Hawks being the worst team against the spread in the NBA, it may be better to wager in the prop market on Monday.

Here are my three favorite plays for this inter-conference battle:

Hawks vs. Kings best NBA prop bets

  • Dejounte Murray OVER 7.5 assists
  • Domantas Sabonis to record a triple-double
  • Jalen Johnson UNDER 26.5 points and rebounds

Dejounte Murray OVER 7.5 assists

This is a pretty simple play for Dejounte Murray, who is averaging 10.0 assists per game without Young in the lineup this season (three games), putting up at least nine in each of those contests.

The former All-Star guard is only averaging 10.1 potential assists per game, so the fact that he’s averaging 10.0 per game when Young doesn’t play shows just how much his role changes as the primary ball-handler.

The Kings rank 22nd in the NBA in opponent assists per game, so this could be a big game for Murray against another team that likes to push the pace (both teams are top 11 in pace this season).

Domantas Sabonis to record a triple-double

Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis has been a triple-double machine since Christmas, picking one up in seven of his last 11 games – including three straight.

Now, he gets to take on an Atlanta Hawks team that pushes the pace (more possessions) and ranks 21st in opponent rebounds per game and 29th in opponent assists per game.

Sabonis has at least 10 rebounds in 24 straight games, and he’s scored 10 or more points in 39 of 41 games this season.

So, it really comes down to his assists on Monday night. The big man is averaging 8.0 assists per game, and he’s putting up 13.3 potential assists per night over his last 12 contests.

I love this plus money prop for Sabonis against one of the NBA’s weaker defenses.

Jalen Johnson UNDER 26.5 points and rebounds

I’m going to fade Jalen Johnson with Young out of the lineup on Monday, as I think this number is just a little too high for the Hawks wing.

Johnson is averaging 15.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season, and he’s cleared 26.5 rebounds in just eight of his 28 games this season.

The Duke product had 15 points and seven boards with Young sitting out against Miami, and he’s likely going to need a massive rebounding game to clear this prop.

Of the eight times that Johnson has gone OVER 26.5 points and rebounds, he’s had 10 or more rebounds in five of them.

This play is more about the number rather than Johnson’s play. I’ll take the UNDER tonight.
