Pistons vs. Hawks NBA final score prediction and odds for Wednesday, April 3 (Back Atlanta?)
By Peter Dewey
The Atlanta Hawks are fighting for play-in tournament position in the Eastern Conference on Wednesday night when they play the Detroit Pistons, who have just 13 wins on the season.
Detroit has been sitting players down the stretch of this season, so Atlanta (the worst team in the NBA against the spread) is favored by a wide margin on Wednesday night.
These teams played twice before the calendar flipped to 2024 with the Hawks winning both games by six. Should we expect a similar outcome on Wednesday?

Pistons vs. Hawks key players to watch
Detroit Pistons
Jaden Ivey: Cade Cunningham has sat out some games near the end of this season, so don’t be shocked if second-year point guard Jaden Ivey is the one leading the way in this game. This season, Ivey is averaging 15.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Atlanta Hawks
Dejounte Murray: With Trae Young out, Dejounte Murray has done a great job for the Hawks, averaging 26.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game since the start of March. Murray is a maestro with the ball in his hands, and his assists numbers have skyrocketed as the primary playmaker for this team.
Pistons vs. Hawks prediction and pick
Yes, Atlanta is the worst team to bet on in the NBA, but I’m going to back the Hawks in this spot against a Pistons team that has really struggled over its last eight games.
Detroit’s only win over that stretch came against the lowly Washington Wizards, and the team lost at home to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.
Prior to the Grizzlies loss, the Pistons had lost by double digits in their last six losses, which makes tonight’s spread more understandable.
With Jalen Johnson back in action for Atlanta, the Hawks have a little more depth to rely on in this matchup. The team is getting close to .500 against the spread as a home favorite (11-15), and there’s a chance Cunningham sits for the Pistons after being listed as questionable.
I think that gives Atlanta an edge, and I’ll lay the points in this one.
Pick: Hawks -11.5 (-110)
