Atlanta Hawks Headlines is back with more reflection on the 2016-17 season and talk of reshuffling in Atlanta’s front office.

Change can be scary. Change can be good. Change can be mediocre. What I’m saying is that change can be many different things. According to reports, the Atlanta Hawks are considering making some changes in their front office.

All heck broke loose the other day when conflicting reports emerged about the future of Atlanta’s front office. A report from Jeff Goodman at ESPN.com suggested that Wes Wilcox was on his way out the door.

A report from Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal Constitution, as well as a statement from the Hawks themselves, suggested that ESPN’s report was a bit premature and that the decision making process regarding the makeup of their organizational structure has not yet been completed.

Finally, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Mike Budenholzer would relinquish his title as president of basketball operations and that Wes Wilcox would take a different role in the front office.

The offseason is heating up! Nothing like a drama filled weekday to get the juices flowing. Today’s installment of Atlanta Hawks Headlines looks at those reports and also takes a step back to reflect on the 2016-17 season.

Let’s take a look at what today has to offer.

Conflicting Reports Emerge About Future of Atlanta Hawks GM Wes Wilcox

Soaring Down South reacted to the news about Atlanta’s front office shakeup as best we could. The reports were zipping around like a basketball around the perimeter at Philips Arena in 2014-15. It looked like Wes Wilcox was being let go. Then he wasn’t. Then Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported that Mike Budenholzer was considering relinquishing his role as president of basketball operations. The dust will certainly settle in a few days.

Atlanta Hawks 2016-17 Season Review: Tim Hardaway Jr.

Our review of Tim Hardaway Jr.’s breakout season focuses on the positive aspects of his season. Hardaway is a dynamic scorer and became a huge part of Atlanta’s offense. He struggled on defense and was a streaky shooter, but overall he had an excellent season as Atlanta’s third leading scorer. Hardaway is a restricted free agent this summer and it is unclear if the Hawks are planning to keep him around.

Atlanta Hawks Season in review: Mike Dunleavy

At Peachtree Hoops, Glen Willis reviews the performance of Hawks wing Mike Dunleavy Jr. The Hawks acquired Dunleavy in January in the deal that sent Kyle Korver to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dunleavy shot well from three-point range, but overall he didn’t make much of an impact. He’s under contract for next season, but there’s reason to believe the Hawks will try to trade him to clear whatever salary cap space they can to help them in their pursuit of Paul Millsap.

Scope of possible Hawks’ front office restructuring under discussion

Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on the ongoing discussions regarding the composition of the Hawks’ front office. The potential change to Mike Budenholzer’s role is the most intriguing point of discussion. The Hawks have decided to make that change.
