Winning the coveted Coach of the Year award is something to brag about, even if Coach Bud would prefer to do the opposite. It’s a testament to the incredible job he has done with this group of guys and more holistically to the franchise.
The award winner must have been pleased with the very limited number (8) of turnovers committed and the double up on fast break points. I especially didn’t mind benching Horford for a few extra minutes for rest purposes, especially with the big man ailing.
He trusts his guys to perform and execute and that in turn equates to their trust in his coaching scheme. That mutual trust will be a big factor into taking them far into the playoffs.
