Atlanta Hawks/Golden State Warriors

Number of meetings: 2

Dates: November 28 (away), March 6 (home)

The Golden State Warriors have had a target on their backs for the past two seasons now, but ever since the acquisition of Kevin Durant this summer, that target has expanded infinitely. Every team in the league will be circling the day they face the Warriors in hopes to defeat what is now being regarded as the ‘superteam’ of the NBA.

Last season, the Hawks lost all four meeting against the Warriors as they finished with the best regular season record in league history at 73-9. The Hawks had them on the ropes in their final meeting on March 1 as Stephen Curry sat out to rest an injured ankle, but still came up short overtime 109-105.

More from Hawks News

The Hawks will only have two chances to complete the upset in the 2015-16 regular season. Although the Warriors may not win more games than they did last season, they are certainly a much better team with Durant.

One thing is for sure. The Hawks are going to give the Warriors their best game. Regular season or not, a win against that caliber of team can do wonders for building confidence and cohesiveness.

Look for Dwight Howard to impose his will against the Warriors, especially since head coach Steve Kerr will be utilizing many smaller lineups. If Howard can own the paint, the Hawks will have a good chance at upending the 2014-15 champions.
