The Hawks won, but it wasn’t the close, defensive battle we predicted. The Hawks won rather easily (despite letting the Bulls pull within single digits in garbage time).

Austin Bende asks if the Hawks have finally found a “closer”, in other words, someone that can make big shots at the end of games. He lists Dennis Schroder, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Paul Millsap as candidates for that role.

Tim Hardaway Jr. gains an NBA foothold heading into free agency

Tim Hardaway Jr. spoke to Chris Nielsen of the Detroit Free Press about his impending free agency. Hardaway is attempting to earn a big contract next summer by impressing teams with his play on the court this season. For now, he is focused on being a Hawk.

Bulls eyeing Bosh? Miami moving Dragic? Here’s the latest buzz

In a roundup of the latest trade rumors, Marc Stein of ESPN reports that teams around the NBA still believe Paul Millsap will be on the market leading up to the trade deadline. If the Hawks continue to win it will be difficult for the front office to justify moving him.

Howard 13th, Millsap 20th in final All-Star fan voting

Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on Atlanta’s struggles in terms of All-Star fan voting. Dwight Howard finished 13th, while Paul Millsap finished 20th. We’ll have to wait and see whether either of them will be added to the team as a reserve.

Neal gets chance with Hawks following hip surgery

Vivlamore also posted a piece today about Gary Neal‘s recovery from hip surgery. It seems like he’s happy to have an opportunity to play in the NBA once again. His track record with Mike Budenholzer was an important factor in his signing with the Hawks. Neal will be a third point guard and shooter off the bench.

Trade market for Suns forward P.J. Tucker is robust

John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM says that the Hawks are one of the many teams interested in trading for Phoenix Suns wing P.J. Tucker.
