Where do the Atlanta Hawks stand at the All-Star break and where are they headed in the future?
After 56 games it’s fair to say that the Atlanta Hawks remain as a big a mystery as they were at the beginning of the season. They are currently 32-24 and are comfortably in 5th place in the Eastern Conference as the All-Star break begins.
They’re close enough to the 3rd place Washington Wizards that it feels like they have a chance to close that gap, but far enough away from the 6th place Indiana Pacers that 5th feels like their floor, barring a huge collapse post-All-Star break.

Getting to this point has been a wild ride. A 9-2 start to the season had folks wondering if the Hawks would be serious contenders in the Eastern Conference.
Dennis Schroder sliding into Jeff Teague‘s vacated starting point guard spot and Dwight Howard replacing Al Horford at center appeared to be working like a charm. They were also getting consistent production from their bench. Life was good after 11 games.
As we now know, things would go south. Then the Hawks would bounce back. Then they’d stabilize to find themselves where they are today. It’s been a wild journey so far this season. Let’s take a look at some of the stand out moments.
