Today’s adventure down Atlanta Hawks Headlines lane features articles on Atlanta’s Friday night loss to the Miami Heat.

I’m not a doctor, but I don’t think the Atlanta Hawks planned to open up the “second half” of their season with a blowout loss to the Miami Heat. Maybe there’s something I’m missing, but I think my assessment is spot on.

Because of the loss, most of the articles featured in today’s installment of Atlanta Hawks Headlines are slightly somber. It’s not fun to write about blowout losses. Sometimes that’s what this gig calls for.

As always, if we’ve left out a piece that you liked, feel free to link it in the comments to get the discussion started. The more the merrier. Enough of the introduction, let’s take a look at today’s batch of headlines.

Atlanta Hawks Fall To Miami Heat 108-90

Our recap of Atlanta’s loss to the Miami Heat showcases Miami’s red-hot three-point shooting. The Heat shot 17-for-37 from outside, with Luke Babbitt knocking down four three-pointers. The Hawks were without starting point guard Dennis Schroder, who was suspended for reporting late after the All-Star break. Schroder’s lateness was due to an issue with his visa. The Hawks’ offense looked lost without him.

Atlanta Hawks Game Preview: Feb. 25 @ Orlando Magic

Xavier Cooper previewed Atlanta’s Saturday night match-up against the Orlando Magic. Entering the game, the Hawks held a 2-1 record against the Magic this season. The Magic are different from the last time they played Atlanta. They traded Serge Ibaka to the Toronto Raptors for Terrence Ross and a first-round pick. Were the Hawks able to bounce back from their blowout loss to the Heat?

How the Heat became the latest team to burn Hawks from 3-point line

Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recaps Atlanta’s loss to the Heat by analyzing Miami’s shooting from behind the three-point line. He also notes that Miami took control in the second quarter by scoring 38 minutes while shooting 52 percent from the field. They also shot 7-for-10 from outside in that quarter. The Hawks never stood a chance after that.

Well-travelled Ilyasova a wanted man with Hawks

Vivlamore also has a story on Ersan Ilyasova and the long journey that has brought him to the Hawks. Ilyasova has now played on three teams this season and five in the last two years. The Hawks are happy to have Ilyasova because of his scoring ability and strong defensive ability.

Hawks vs. Heat — Things of Note

At Hawks Hoop, Graham Chapple breaks down Atlanta’s loss to the Miami Heat in great detail. As usual, Chapple’s “things of note” recap is a must read.

Why Lamar Patterson and Ryan Kelly make sense for the Hawks Roster

At Peachtree Hoops, Glen Willis writes that signing Ryan Kelly and Lamar Patterson to end of season contracts makes sense for the Hawks. He believes that Patterson could come in handy if the Hawks go up against physical guards that Malcolm Delaney is unable to guard. I still think the Hawks should have gone after another point guard, but Willis makes a good case for the signing of Patterson.
