Atlanta Hawks Headlines is back to discuss Atlanta’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. It was Atlanta’s third loss in a row.

Atlanta Hawks Headlines is back from another vacation. When we left you last the vibe was much happier than it is now. As you well know, the Hawks have been extremely inconsistent this season. They’ve reeled off long winning streaks, and also subjected themselves to long losing streaks.

Recently, they won three games in a row against the Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, and Memphis Grizzlies. They followed up that stretch by losing three games in a row to the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, and Portland Trail Blazers. The carousel never stops turning.

Because of the current losing skid, Atlanta Hawks Headlines is not the most chipper place on the internet. Today’s selection of articles largely deal with the aftermath of Atlanta’s Saturday night loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

If we failed to include an article that caught your eye, please link it in the comments section. Let’s get to today’s headlines.

Atlanta Hawks Defeated By Trail Blazers 113-97

The Hawks never had a chance against the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland started the game on a 17-3 run and held a 22-point lead after the first quarter. The Hawks desperately needed Paul Millsap to save their struggling offense. Millsap missed the game due to left knee soreness. Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum put on a show for Portland, combining for 49 points.

Atlanta Hawks: Does Resting Dwight Howard for the Playoffs Really Make Sense?

Tyler Sellers asks if the Hawks should start resting Dwight Howard for the playoffs. That seems unlikely at this point, especially when you consider the fact that the Hawks are just four games ahead of the ninth place Detroit Pistons. Still, the Hawks are 6-1 without Howard this season, and having him fresh in the playoffs would only be a good thing.

Malcolm Delaney returns to rotation against Blazers

At Peachtree Hoops, Kris Willis notes that Hawks point guard Malcolm Delaney returned to the rotation against the Portland Trail Blazers. Delaney had fallen out of the rotation over the last five games. It appears that Mike Budenholzer felt that Delaney’s defense made him a better option than Jose Calderon against Portland’s dynamic guards.

Atlanta Hawks Weekly Wrap: A Week of Playoff Teams

Also at Peachtree Hoops, Thomas Jenkins recaps the week for the Hawks. It was a difficult week with Atlanta losing all three games they played. They’ll probably still make the playoffs, but Hawks fans have some doubt about that for the first time in awhile.

“Rush Hour” Report: Hawks lose third straight game; Schroder struggling; Drake’s new album is trash

At Hawks Hoop, Eric Yeboah provides a brief video update on Atlanta’s recent loss. He also points out Dennis Schroder‘s struggles and has an opinion on Drake’s latest release. I can only assume Philips Arena will ban Drake’s music if the Hawks face the Raptors in a playoff series.

How the Hawks trailed by 23 points – in the first quarter – in loss

Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recaps Atlanta’s loss with quotes from the players and Mike Budenholzer. That game made it obvious how important Paul Millsap is to Atlanta’s success. Without him they look like a lottery team.
