The Atlanta Hawks are back in action tonight against the Washington Wizards. Can they put a stop to their four game losing skid?

The Atlanta Hawks have 12 games remaining on their regular season schedule. They currently have a 37-33 record and hold a one game lead on fifth place over the Indiana Pacers. They have just a 3.5 game lead over the ninth place Detroit Pistons.

The Hawks have lost their last four games, the most recent two coming without Paul Millsap. The team looked to prove they could win without Millsap Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets.

After a quick start, they ended up losing by 15 points. The loss moved their record without Millsap to 0-5 this season. He’s the straw that stirs the drink and without him their offense and defense craters.

Millsap will be out at least one more game, so unless they can find a way to win without him, this losing streak will grow to five games.

Things are looking rather bleak in Atlanta. The playoffs were once a sure thing. Now, some doubt has to be creeping into the hearts and minds of Hawks fans. Their schedule gets easier after tough road match-ups with the Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks, so falling completely out of the playoffs would take a collapse of epic proportions.

A four game losing skid in March is still unsettling for an organization that had their eyes set on grabbing a top four seed less than one month ago. Can they put a stop to all this losing tonight? To do that they’ll have to take down one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Washington Wizards have been one of the most intriguing stories in the NBA this season. A putrid start made them look like a lottery team. Since late December they have been one of the best teams in the league. What’s made the Wizards so good this season?
