With major improvements on offense, and strengthening their tenth-ranked defense, Atlanta could challenge the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers for Eastern Conference prominence.

Passing Toronto Raptors in the standings might be guaranteed, as they watch Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka enter free agency.

The Wizards will hope that restricted free agent Otto Porter is not offered an outrageous amount in the open market.

If Porter is offered a ton of money, Washington will either let him walk and watch their defense crumble, or sign him and struggle to find reserves with virtually no money.

The Hawks would comfortably pass the Wizards and their weak bench. Atlanta might gain some major national exposure with the improvements of the Hawks’ young core, quieting the people who claim that Draymond Green is just a “system player” in Golden State.

For now this would only be a major fantasy for the Hawks, but not completely impossible. Until then, let’s see how Travis Schlenk arranges the Hawks during the NBA Draft and free agency. The NBA Draft takes place June 22, and will be aired on ESPN at 7 p.m. Free Agency officially begins on July 1.
