SACRAMENTO, CA – MARCH 22: Miles Plumlee #18 of the Atlanta Hawks /

His best games of the season were a 10-point outing against the Indiana Pacers,  an 11-point game against the Washington Wizards and a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double against the Phoenix Suns. These were the only three games of the season where Plumlee scored double-digit points, and he logged double-digit rebounds in two contests this past season — not encouraging from a center.

In defense of his stats, Plumlee was not taking many shots per game so at least he wasn’t shooting 10 times a game and failing to score. He will need to work on developing his offensive game in the offseason to be able to help the team moving forward.

Miles Plumlee’s future in an Atlanta Hawks uniform doesn’t look too promising after his first year with the team. The center struggled offensively and wasn’t much of a defensive presence at all only averaging 0.5 blocks per game.

While he played limited minutes and missed a good chunk of the season, Plumlee failed to prove his worth to the team and shouldn’t have a long career for the Hawks.

If the Hawks could somehow work magic and move his contract, even if it means taking on a bad expiring contract, they should. The team is set up well to add depth in the draft and has plenty of money to spend in free agency this season which could take even more minutes away from him.

Let us all hope that Travis Schlenk can pull off something special this offseason that kickstarts the rebuild for the Atlanta Hawks. For the time being, Miles Plumlee will continue to burn a hole in the pocket of the team.
