Josh Magette spent his 2017-18 season bouncing back and fourth between the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA and for the team’s G League affiliate the Erie Bayhawks.

Josh Magette showed fans, coaches, and players that they have to respect his jump shot in his limited time on an NBA court. While his playing time was extremely limited and his numbers are not eye-popping, Magette showed that he may have the capability of playing in the NBA.

In 18 games this season he averaged 2.6 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. While those numbers don’t look flashy, you have to take into consideration he was only getting about 12 minutes a game. 3.1 assists is a strong stat for that limited amount of minutes considering Dennis Schröder who played over double the minutes averaged about 6 assists, which is not a knock on Dennis at all but shows that Magette has rock-solid playmaking ability.

Some of Magette’s were definitely highlight-worthy, though his limited playing time didn’t quite do him justice — just look at some of these filthy dimes:

As a defensive liability at his size, Magette is a long shot to be an everyday rotational player in the NBA right now, but the guy fights every night and makes plays for his team.

If the Hawks wouldn’t have been a rebuilding team he most likely wouldn’t have seen any time at all, but he did his best to take advantage of the time he got.

With the draft coming up and the Hawks already having a crowded backcourt his days may be numbered on the roster, but for the 2017-18 season Josh Magette played his heart out.

Despite that, he was an undersized guard and a non-factor on the defensive side of the ball and didn’t bring much more help than any other guard off the bench for the team.
