2. Kevin Huerter

Huerter who was drafted in this year’s draft with Young and Spellman will make some noise this season. Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk has been trying his best to create a roster that resembles the Golden State Warriors.

Drafting Huerter is a great start considering that his physical frame and style of play mimics Klay Thompson‘s. The former Maryland Terp has the ability to shoot from deep, attack the basket and create his own offense.

Similar to Thompson, the Hawks’ 19th overall pick can catch and shoot off of screens and hit floaters in the lane. Huerter will help Atlanta whether he starts or comes off the bench. However, the goal and desire of the franchise is to pair Huerter and Young in the backcourt together as starters. This will probably happen sooner rather than later if the Kent Bazemore trade rumors can be believed.

The 20-year-old will create matchup nightmares for opposing defenses because of his size and ability to shoot over the defender. One downside of the New York native’s game is his inability to guard on the perimeter consistently.

Huerter did not play in this year’s summer league after having surgery, according to Brad Rowland of Peachtree Hoops. The Maryland product averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game in his college career.
