The Atlanta Hawks are currently riding the team’s second two-game winning streak of the season.
After defeating the Miami Heat for the second time this season in thrilling fashion, the Atlanta Hawks will go for their second win of the year against division rival Charlotte on the road in the Queen City.
These two teams played one another just 3 nights ago, which marked the Hawks busting up the team’s 10-game losing streak.
Buoyed by a career night for John Collins (as well as a game-saving block) and clutch scoring from the recently bench-bound Kent Bazemore, the Hawks were able to eke out a victory against the Hornets on a relatively off night for Hornets All-Star Kemba Walker.

Walker tends to light it up against the Hawks, and he certainly did that in the two teams’ first meeting of the year earlier this month (November 6). Kemba shot 54.5 percent in the game on the way to 29 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and a +9 box plus/minus in nearly 36 minutes of action.
However, Walker looked a bit out of sorts in the bout against the Hawks, only scoring 22 points on 7 of 23 shooting (30.4%), and he was even unable to get a shot off on the Hornets’ penultimate possession as the Atlanta Hawks actually clamped down on defense.
If the Hawks were to win tonight against the Hornets, it would mark the team’s first 3-game winning streak since April 6 to April 11 of 2017, during the 2016-17 season, which marked the final year of the team’s unprecedented 10-year run of playoff appearances.
While the goal for this season isn’t piling up victories (as typified by the team’s lowly 5-16 record), the longest winning streak in a year and a half would be quite an accomplishment for a young Hawks team, especially if the young guns (Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, Omari Spellman) play well in winning efforts.
Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. EST. Let’s go Hawks!
