Atlanta Hawks: Win over Clips Provides Both Answers and Questions
Dewayne Dedmon’s Trade Stock Will Never Be Higher
As painful as it is to say, it’s time to trade Dewayne Dedmon.
It’s just hard to see how his stock can rise any higher after another fantastic night.
He scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting. He hit a three. He snatched 10 rebounds, tallied one block, and dished out two assists.
The big man is murderous on the offensive glass. Of those aforementioned 10 boards, four of them came while cleaning up some loose change.
He has scored in double digits for four straight games now, his only such stretch of the entire season. He’s energized, shooting the ball extremely well, demonstrating touch from deep, and flashing great signs of rim protection ability.
The most likely attractant for a potential suitor? The man’s efficiency. Dedmon shot 75% from the floor, and did all of his work around what Collins and Young were already providing. Playoff teams have to see him as a possible stud slotting into a big man role on a second unit.
He’s got a unique skill set, and the Hawks should be able to get a decent return for him, especially if he goes as a package with Kent Bazemore, Jeremy Lin, or both.
Dedmon will be a free agent following this season, and he’s most likely not coming back.
The Atlanta Hawks should trade him sooner rather than later, so that a contender can have as many games as possible to integrate him into their system.
