A preview of the Atlanta Hawks final tilt against the Charlotte Hornets.

The Atlanta Hawks face off against division rivals tonight at State Farm Arena when the Charlotte Hornets travel to Atlanta.

This game marks the fourth and final game between these two teams during the 2018-19 season and provides the Hawks an opportunity to tie up the season series.

The Hornets have won 2 out of the three games these two teams have played against each other. The Atlanta Hawks lone win came at home in late November, with the Hawks eking out a 124-123 win on the back of a John Collins double-double (23 points, 11 rebounds, +16 on/off rating) as well as 61 bench points – including a combined 36 points for Kent Bazemore (20) and DeAndre’ Bembry (16).

More from Soaring Down South

The last time the Atlanta Hawks played the Hornets, it was a rather insipid affair. Charlotte defeated the Hawks 108-94, and the away team had a terrible shooting night: 34.4 percent from the field and 25 percent from downtown.

Trae Young led the team in scoring with 18 points on an inefficient 7 of 19 shooting. For the Hornets, despite getting a goose egg from Marvin Williams in the scoring portion, the rest of their starters combined for 63 points with Nicolas Batum logging the lowest total of 13.

Cody Zeller and Jeremy Lamb were both red hot as Zeller logged 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting, including some memorable dunks and Lamb notched 22 points on 6 of 12 shooting and 9 of 9 from the charity stripe.

The Hawks come into this game having lost convincingly to the shorthanded Toronto Raptors, as Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam both went off for career-high 30+ point nights.
