A quick preview of the Atlanta Hawks third game of the season against the Orlando Magic.

For the third time this season (of four), the Atlanta Hawks will duel with the Orlando Magic – this time on the road. In the previous two games between these two teams, the Magic have cruised to easy double-digit wins.

In the first game on January 21, the Magic were buoyed by huge performances from Evan Fournier (29 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds) and Nikola Vucevic (29 points, 14 rebounds, +8 on/off) on the way to a 19-point rout over the Hawks.

The Hawks starters played quite well, but the team was let down by an ineffective bench unit that produced only 24 points – 15 of which came from Jeremy Lin, who is now a Toronto Raptor.

In the second game between these two teams, this time a 14-point loss at home for the Hawks, the Magic were aided by an extremely balanced scoring attack that saw 7 players score in double figures.

Orlando was once again led by Vucevic, who finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds and a +15 on/off rating. Off the bench, Terrence Ross poured in 18 points in 23 minutes with a perfect 8 of 8 showing from the free throw line. Though Fournier scored less points, he was still very effective with 17 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds and a +15 on/off rating.

For the Atlanta Hawks to win, they will need better performances from Trae Young and John Collins, who have been seemingly stymied by the Magic so far this season.

For their part, the Magic are currently on the outside looking in regarding the Eastern Conference Playoffs, as they currently sit one game behind the Miami Heat for the #8 seed. The Magic need every game they can get down the stretch, so look for them to come out motivated versus Atlanta.
