A few takeaways from the Atlanta Hawks defeating the Utah Jazz in State Farm Arena.
The Atlanta Hawks were able to exact revenge from an earlier loss this season by defeating the Utah Jazz in narrow fashion due to some clutch defensive stops and the usual exploits of rookie point guard Trae Young.
This was an entertaining tilt throughout, as both teams offered up numerous highlights during the course of the action.

Donovan Mitchell clobbered two hellacious tomahawk dunks, Ricky Rubio delivered some sparkling passes, Kevin Huerter drilled some beautiful threes and Trae Young was in his bag – as usual – crossing dudes up, diming up his willing teammates and generally piloting this Atlanta Hawks team to a clutch win.
This was a back-and-forth game with 16 lead changes and 9 ties. The Hawks held an 11-point lead going into halftime (their largest of the game) before summarily coughing it up halfway through the third quarter.
The Jazz looked far more engaged in the second half, and we offered up a potential reason why:
Perhaps a Space Jam-like “secret stuff” recipe might be far-fetched, but something got into Utah during the break, as they came out like gangbusters on the way to rolling out to a 9-point advantage late in the 3rd.
Then, it would get close. Slowly but surely, the Hawks whittled away the Jazz’s lead before ultimately taking the lead late in the 4th.
