Final Moments

After outscoring the Hawks 37 to 21 in the 3rd quarter and with 5:11 left in this contest, the Utah Jazz led 106-98 after Derrick Favors tossed in a layup. From that moment on until 3:13 left in the game, the Atlanta Hawks went on a 9-0 run to take the lead – with Trae Young scoring or assisting on 7 of those 9.

To be fair, John Collins scored 5 of those 9 with a three-pointer and a forceful dunk, but still:

Then, over the course of the final 1:10 of this one, it was the Dewayne Dedmon show. He scored 5 points on his own at the charity stripe and via a goaltended hook shot, and he also delivered two key blocks.

While the future of this team is all about upside, Dewayne Dedmon is a fiery player that his teammates seem to enjoy having around, and let’s hope he gets a solid contract this offseason from a team looking for frontcourt help.

Trae Young’s Night

Regarding Trae Young, he logged 23 points and 11 assists, and Atlanta Hawks PR had a terrific stat from that:

We know Trae is one of the best passers in the NBA and that he and Kevin Huerter represent the Hawks backcourt of the future. Beyond that, he is the best rookie in franchise history, which means this Hawks team will be in good shape with him as the steward of the organization.
