The Atlanta Hawks Trio

Over the last couple of years, the Hawks have drafted John Collins (2017) and Trae Young and Kevin Huerter (2018). All three players are the core of this young Atlanta Hawks team.

Yes, Taurean Prince is a part of the future but with injury and regression, he could be a trading piece in the near future. Last night, Young continued to get his teammates involved through, pick-and-rolls, driving and dishing and simply passing the ball in the open floor.

Young finished the game with 23 points and 11 assist which is the 18th game where he finished with 20 and 10. Young is at his best when he is pushing the tempo and getting his teammates involved.

Travis Schlenk deserves his due

General Manager Travis Schlenk’s vision is coming alive as he envisioned when he drafted Young & Huerter (the Atlanta Hawks backcourt of the future). The Hawks are at there best when Young is pushing the tempo and running the pick & roll.

Last night, Ice Trae set up Collins with a beautiful lob and got other teammates involved by drawing two defenders and kicking it out.

Huerter finished the game with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Without Huerter, Young would face more pressure from opposing defenses, not to mention the paint would be clogged which would effect Collins.

Collins finished the last game of the season with 20 points, 25 rebounds (career high) and 6 assists.

Clearly, the three players feed off of one another and it was apparent in last night’s battle against the Pacers as the Hawks shot 41.7 percent from three.
