Atlanta Hawks: Trae Young Given Personalized Chain by Superfan Quavo
By Chris Guest
Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks received a dope gift from one of his biggest fans recently.
One of the biggest Atlanta Hawks fans, rapper Quavo of Migos, gave rookie Trae Young a gorgeous gift recently of an extremely gaudy but well-designed chain that said “Ice Trae” on it in honor of Young’s most popular nickname – and one of Quavo’s well-known tracks.
The chain is in the shape of a basketball with diamonds dripping down it, which is emblazoned with Young’s nickname of Ice Trae front and center. Young shared the original video on Twitter with the caption “Thanks My Brotha.”
Quavo has long been a supporter of Young since even before Trae was drafted, and the rapper could often be seen sitting courtside at Atlanta Hawks games, swapping jerseys with various players (Trae included) after games were completed.

In the video, Quavo makes sure to fire off a take about Young being the Rookie of the Year, saying “Young Rookie of the Year in my book.” Certainly, Ice Trae has a good case for it, especially after being named a unanimous First Team All-Rookie member alongside the presumptive ROY, Luka Doncic.
We have previously outlined why both Young and Doncic deserve the award, and the best compromise would be naming both Co-Rookies of the Year – something that is not without precedent in NBA history.
Still though, in Atlanta, Trae Young captured the attention of fans in a way that no young player in recent history has done. While Josh Smith was certainly a headliner for a while, his star waned rather quickly and Al Horford never commanded the same attention that was heaped upon Trae in his first year.
With Quavo’s blessing, the city of Atlanta is Trae Young’s for the taking, and without Zion incoming thanks to the Atlanta Hawks falling in the draft lottery, his throne is unchallenged.
Ice tray the gang, indeed.
